we dont have many firsts anymore

i wish i remembered the first time

the rain fell down from the sky and ran down the side

of my face and wrapped around my chin

while i flailed in anticipation of every drop

hoping to catch this sweet precipitation i was so recently introduced

struggling to look up while the water lovingly hugs my eyes closed

smiling with the pleasure of discovery
